Overview

A customer-facing food ordering experience covering menu browsing, meal discovery, cart and checkout. The build focuses on a fast mobile flow, clear dish information and an ordering path that a small food business can operate day to day.

Problem / Objective

Objective: build a digital ordering experience that lets customers discover meals, build an order and complete checkout without a phone call.

Long menus are difficult to browse on a phone, and ordering by phone or message means enquiries and orders live outside any system.

Solution

A structured menu and order model behind a mobile-first browsing, cart and checkout flow, so orders arrive as records rather than messages.

Key capabilities

  • Digital ordering experience
  • Meal and product discovery
  • Cart and checkout flow
  • Customer ordering workflow
  • Order records stored in a database

Technology

  • Development

    • React
    • TypeScript
    • Tailwind CSS
  • Data

    • Relational schema
    • Order records

Implementation

A React front end renders the menu from a structured database schema. Menu items, categories, carts and orders are modelled relationally so the same data drives browsing, discovery and checkout, and each completed order is written back as a record the business can work from.

How it flows

  1. Customer
  2. Menu & discovery
  3. Cart
  4. Checkout
  5. Order record
